Princes Quay in Hull have recently begun a large renovation project in the east wing of the shopping centre. Having previously been painted over 25 years ago it’s fair to say the centre was ready for a fresh new look. As part of ‘’phase one’’ of the renovation project we carried out work to all steel works, communal and back areas. Our client and all of us at Greens are delighted with the outcome, the new look its warm, clean and welcoming throughout.
Here’s some before and afters’
Left: before Right: After
During this project it was vital that our work did not interrupt the day to day running of the businesses. In order to achieve this we ran a 24 hours service with operative’s working days and nights to ensure we kept to deadlines and cause minimal disruption. We also had to consider working at different heights as some areas were not accessible by ladders. Thankfully our staff are IPAF and PASMA trained and are fully qualified and experienced to use large accessing equipment. For this job in particular we used three different types of lifts : Scissor, Spider and Nano. Whilst undertaking work at height we had to consider the size and weight of the lifts in order to manoeuvre them through the shopping center without causing any damage. It can be challenging work however we left this in the capable hands of our experienced staff. The shopping center is subject to heavy traffic therefore it was important we used durable hardwearing products such as oil based satin in white and grey for the columns throughout. The walls and ceiling were painted in white Covaplus Vinyl Matt which has a cleanable finish, perfect for those extra busy areas. Meanwhile steel work was painted in Johnstones’ Steel and Clad paint in Pure White which really brightened up those high areas.
